I forgot to mention that in order to install the radiator you will need to buy the fan clutch tools. But there are other ways to remove it. I did not buy the tools and had a bit more difficult time installing the radiator.
I struggled more than I should have, esp for what it cost, rad, tank and hoses £600!! I had to modify many of the plastic trims, mostly because of the welds on the expansion tank were raised too much. Also mine leaked at the bottom of the expansion tank, the smaller of the 2 connections. Its says in the video that you get new o ring seals, but i didn't, and it seems that the recess that the smaller o ring sits in is slightly bigger than the stock expansion tank, therefore not providing a seal. I managed to find a hardware store that sold them and I found one slightly bigger and thicker, which seems to have done the trick. The other struggle was connecting the 2 connectors at the top, the small one on the expansion tank and the larger one on the rad. Although I think this is BMW's fault - these coolant hose push connectors - WTF!!, whats wrong with jubilee clips??? The stock cooling fan rubs on the lower pulley too!! Anyway, its done now!!
Hey David - I'm sorry to hear you had so much difficulty with our BMW performance cooling package - if you're still having any issues or problems, feel free to email our support specialists at support@mishimoto.com or call 1-877-GOMISHI.
Hey mishimoto! can the expansion tank also be used on department store replacement parts? meaning can i put an aluminum expansion tank on an Oriellys Rein or Dorman brand tank bracket?
At 4:25 the T25 torx bolts were removed , but if I’m still going to use the same plastic BMW expansion tank & mounting bracket , can those T25 bolts still be reused , or would I have to get the 10mm bolts as shown @ 6:50?
If your are referring to the NPT fan controller, the difference is that the NPT will need a threaded port for installation. This allows the sensor the read the coolant temperature directly. The alternative option is the probe sensor. While not as accurate, it still works very well. This is inserted into the fins of the radiator to read the temperature of the coolant within.

No I just installed mine and followed the M# installation video. I'm using their controller though with the entire package, not just the fan. The Aux fan is fine though. It literally has nothing to do with the installation process. I have a 325Ci btw.
Hey Terrence, we are currently working on a revision to the coolant expansion tank that was included with the kit. All other parts are available, but the revision would likely make it difficult to find the entire kit.
Just a update to help anyone else having the same issue as me, if you wire the fan to a switch and relay you have to keep the auxiliary fan sensor in or your car will run hot
The E46 could be found with both electric fans and clutch fans. The manual cars like in the video used the electric fan while the automatics used a clutch fan and small auxiliary fan up front. Your fitment should be no different other than having to delete the clutch fan.
Hello Hader. Unfortunately, the expansion tank featured in the video has been discontinued. Is your vehicle an M or non M E46? We do still have a fan shroud and radiator available for these vehicles.
Take a shot for every time he says ''Mishimoto''
Good luck
The best video on e46 because of clarity.

That's if you own an automatic.
Not required for manuals

Hey mishimoto! can the expansion tank also be used on department store replacement parts? meaning can i put an aluminum expansion tank on an Oriellys Rein or Dorman brand tank bracket?
If the OEM counterparts are compatible, the Mishimoto units should be as well.
Can the fan be wired directly o a switch or only as shown in the video?
The fan can we wired to a switch, you would just have to grab a relay and a switch to wire it this way.

If reusing OEM parts, the OEM hardware should be fine.
Is this kit still available for purchase for 2002 BMW 325CI Manual Transmission?

hey, can I still used my old Electrical clutch fan and would it bolt up
+Mar Garc Hi Mar, please email support@mishimoto.com with your question - they will be more than happy to help you out! Thanks, Team Mishi
Yes it'll work but installing the electrical fan is much better and easier to work on the engine because it's a lot easier to remove.
So I’ve been looking online at this does the expansion tank come with it or not because I cannot fix it anywhere
Unfortunately, the expansion tank featured in the video has been discontinued.
Is this whole kit available or do you have to buy everything separately?
We do not have a kit. The items listed in the details should be purchased together. Thanks!
i cant find the whole kit on the website? do you guys still make them for a 02 e46?
We do not. Sorry!
Is there a dual fan set up for this radiator or would another brand dual fan shroud fit?
We do not currently offer a dual fan shroud but any shroud that uses the OEM fan mounting points should work on our radiator as well
Can i put this on my 320i e46 bc in the page it shows that only the 323 328 and 330 e46
Unfortunately, this will not fit the 320i models. We apologize for any inconvenience!
what is the tnp option I don't understand it????

I have to remove the auxiliary fan after installing the mishimoto fan non m??!

Does anyone know if this would fit a swapped manual?
As long as the transmission cooler was deleted during the swap you should be fine installing the manual version of the E46 radiator.
my name is john too
Does it make a difference that I have a Mechanical Fan and not Electric?
Hey IxRxBaboon . This was designed to work with all of your OEM equipment as well. As long as the mechanical fan is stock, you'll have no issues :)
tried to do one of these tonight and the expansion tank had a hanky weld and wouldn't let the tank go back far enough to let the upper hose fit at all
same here, couldn't get the upper hose to connect at all
Called them up and they made it right for us ours
How come I can’t find the kit anywhere?
Hey Terrence, we are currently working on a revision to the coolant expansion tank that was included with the kit. All other parts are available, but the revision would likely make it difficult to find the entire kit.
Where I can get this ? I want bay
Feel free to check out our products on Mishimoto.com
Why I can't find the expansion tank anywhere? Is the e36 expansion tank the same for E46? I can't find the E46 expansion tank 🤔
I bought the radiator but couldn't find the expansion tank anywhere, I'm tired of the plastic one
Hello Carlos, unfortunately this expansion tanks had been discontinued at this time. This is why you can no longer find it online.
@@mishimoto I see, would you ever make another version?
Currently we are looking into other project, however it is possible we will redo the tanks in the future.
Awesome thanks for the reply!
Do I need to install a controller with the fan? I installed it and it is working but my engine is running hot.
Would you be able to shoot us an email to support@mishimoto.com? We would be happy to diagnose the issue with you and see if we can solve the issue.
Curious did you ever find a solution to your issue? Currently having the same problem with mine
Just a update to help anyone else having the same issue as me, if you wire the fan to a switch and relay you have to keep the auxiliary fan sensor in or your car will run hot
Will this work on the M56 motor ? I think the one in the video is the m54
The M56 was just a M54 that was modified for emissions. The radiator on both cars appear to be the same.
Mishimoto Automotive the M56 has the clutch fan
The E46 could be found with both electric fans and clutch fans. The manual cars like in the video used the electric fan while the automatics used a clutch fan and small auxiliary fan up front. Your fitment should be no different other than having to delete the clutch fan.
@@mishimoto finally my question answered ty lol
When is the expansion tank coming out?
+subman2366 stay tuned! Very soon. ;)
Do you ship to London?
Hello MrDk23221 . We can ship items any where in the world. We have distribution centers in the US, UK, and AU :)
Do you offer this set up for a e39 non m?
WE unfortunately do not have this setup for the E39 quite yet. We're happy to pass the suggestion along to our engineers!
@@mishimoto thanks for the quick response please let me lnpw
How much is all this in the video total?
Because my cars fan exploded and destroyed my cooling system
Hello Hader. Unfortunately, the expansion tank featured in the video has been discontinued. Is your vehicle an M or non M E46? We do still have a fan shroud and radiator available for these vehicles.
Mishimoto Automotive can you guys make a custom all aluminum oil cooler for an E46 325Ci ??
Sorry BMW Man - at the moment we do not have plans to create a direct-fit oil cooler for your 325Ci.
Mishimoto Automotive Okay Thanks again
